I feel much more confident and in control over my playing, as there is less emphasis on specific gain and tone knob settings and more on the actual sound of the amp. Good sound engineers will more than appreciate such an amazing feature, especially in the recording studio.Īs ideal as the VH4 sounds, the amp can actually breathe now with the decompression mod in place. It has allowed me to get the perfect sound for my band and to cut through in practically every performance situation. This is a great mod for guitar players of all styles, as it highlights the nuances of one’s playing in ways that most musicians can only dream of.

The amp still retains the characteristics Diezel is known for, Kruse Kontrol just added some great nuances that now make it a stand alone amplifier. Jens also suggested a different set of tubes which helped the overall sound to have more depth and power. Recently I was recording with the Diezel by itself, and it sounded like it a ship that had fallen to the bottom of the ocean dark and without life.Īfter the modification, it sounded as if a thick blanket was removed from the speaker cabinet, giving it a more raw and open sound… quite hard to believe, considering the VH4 and is one the best amps in the world. In a live situation I always paired the VH4 with other amps to accent the tonal landscapes the VH4 was missing. I have a Diezel VH4 and Jens suggested the Decompression mod. It can also now better let me hear more succinctly the subtleties and complexities of my playing. now it can howl or growl or whisper or talk or sing or whine or complain on all channels or just unleash a torrent of aggression in ch3,4.
